Built with purpose from the start
The land now known as the Purdue Research Park was originally purchased in 1946 for the purpose of studying how electric power could improve the standard of living and economic welfare of farmers. The Electric Farm allowed Purdue researchers, farmers, and power suppliers to work together to develop novel technologies and improve overall farm production.
This ethos of developing world-changing innovations through industry-academia partnerships has been the through line of the park’s development ever since. By establishing research facilities near Purdue University, industry would have access to new knowledge as it was generated and receive scientific data that it could not otherwise afford, powering the future’s brightest technologies.
Where tech, talent, and community thrive
In 1961, the park was named Purdue Industrial Research Park. Today, the Purdue Research Park is not only Indiana’s first certified technology park, but also a place to live, work, and play. It continues to operate on the cutting-edge of technological advancement by supporting companies like Cook Biotech, Inari, Wabash, Teledyne Flir, SK hynix, and others planting their flags in the park alongside the local businesses, community resources, families, students, professors, researchers, and others.
