Duties / Responsibilities

MED Institute, Inc. is currently accepting applications for a Database Applications Developer to become a part of our growing Clinical team. This position will be responsible for the design, development, and support of clinical trial data collection systems.

The candidate will have responsibility for a variety of activities, including paper and electronic case report form design and development, development of edit checks and validation plans, developing reports and report specifications, writing custom computer code to integrate and support clinical data activities, and provide leadership in these areas to the rest of Data Management and the clinical team.

  • Candidates are responsible for interacting with the rest of Data Management, clinical project managers, clinical staff, and statisticians to develop clinical study requirements and transform requirements into a successful paper or electronic application.
  • Candidates are responsible for working with minimal oversight considering priorities, and both short- and long-term goals.
  • Candidates will provide mentoring and training to staff and application users.
  • Candidates are responsible for easily accepting input and ideas from other team members, as well as seeking out colleagues, both internal and global, for ideas and discussion.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minnimum BS/BA degree; basic science, math, statistics, management information systems, or computer science preferred, but all degrees are acceptable with relevant experience;
  • Experience in multiple aspects of database development and implementation, data reporting, and data management preferred;
  • Knowledge of aspects of clinical data management roles, responsibilities, and workflow;
  • Knowledge of database structures and design considerations;
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language required (T-SQL, PL-SQL);
  • Knowledge of database connectivity (JDBC, ODBC);
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports, SAS, or other reporting software;
  • Demonstrated success with a project team during project assessment, planning, development, training and implementation;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Able to work independently; and
  • Knowledge of computer technology, databases, reporting software, clinical trials, and clinical data management required.
